Awareness Trenchcoat Project

Biodegradable fabric + biodegradable tea bags with soil and flower seeds inside.

The idea behind this is: most people tend to get rid of their clothes after a while. This trenchcoat is made out of 100% cotton biodegradable fabric, so when you outgrow, have new taste in clothes or any other reason you’re not wearing your trenchcoat anymore, you can plant it under the ground.

After a few weeks flowers will start peeking through the ground (I chose flowers, so the bees can pollinate them). The fabric will however take a few months to completely biodegrade. The biodegradable teabags take only a few weeks to dissolve. These methods will make sure that the trenchcoat will not end up on a landfill and there will be no waste left in the ground.

I chose to do my 6 months internship at Sunvibes, because it was a brand outside my comfort zone. It’s a brand that has a style that is completely the opposite of mine, so I saw this as a personal challenge. I learned here that I do can design the brands view even if it doesn't resonate with my personal style.

Also Elisa (brand owner) was a wonderful mentor to me and she made me learn a lot about myself and made me more confident in general. To this day I’m very thankful that I had the pleasure to do my internship for a wonderful brand and got to know many lovely and inspiring people.
